I heard that those self-storage places are the largest growing segment of real estate in the country.

My wife was backpacking with her previous husband when she got tired and wanted to rest. He didn't so he kept trucking on. While she was regrouping she heard a sound in the bushes.. out comes a huge bear. She grabbed her pack and rediscovered her energy, quickly catching up to her husband. When she breathlessly caught up to him she said a bear had almost gotten her.

He looked back and saw this little black dot in the distance and said: "Hell, it's way far away from you". She indignantly replied, "... well it is NOW!!".Robert the Skeptichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10863488312604865183noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7357309411027735889.post-6518762854675349392010-09-20T03:49:59.686-04:002010-09-20T03:49:59.686-04:00Wow! She stored things up and delivered them in boxes, like your mother--only she had just the one child. My parents died years ago, but there's a corner of the garage that I just have not been able to face--the corner with the boxes of things that belonged to them, the ones I just couldn't bring myself to get rid of.Nancehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15166865250789996825noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7357309411027735889.post-73203501531000945782010-09-18T21:18:42.124-04:002010-09-18T21:18:42.124-04:00J & K - OK, I can hardly move now, it's 8...J & K - OK, I can hardly move now, it's 8:30 PM. I had help moving all the boxes around, setting up the large metal shelving unit, piling boxes on it, while still wading around MORE boxes, all the while the ham I bought was slow roasting to feed my reinforcements. Rode to the farm and discovered the raccoons had torn an entire board off the shed, inside the auto feeders were everywhere, empty. I refilled them, propped the board back up and put huge rocks against it to hopefully keep it there. My groaning was probably heard miles away. But yes, I did label all the boxes, and natch its a riot. I was getting really tired of packing the last two weeks... There's a box that says BLACK PAINT FOR FURNITURE TOUCH UP IN HERE, then another that claims BLACK PAINT FOR FURNITURE TOUCH UP REALLY IN HERE. I don't even remember doing that. Its just a question of getting it all in one section, so that my son's stuff is in the other section. He can finish building his twelve foot wing-span gas powered remote control plane, and I can do my projects. I have been taking pictures, I just didn't label in detail enough to figure out where the charger cord to the camera is.......

J- Um yuh, the darn bear had more of a , er, quizzical look on his enormous, black face.... sort of like the look my cats have when I crash into a doorway - a family trait we never admitted to, mainly because we never figured out why we all did it, sure walking from room to room is a cinch, to most people... - but I was so panicked all I could see was LUNCH in his eyes. I realized afterward he never would have been able to make the ledge, but he may have had a shortcut... I did join in my girlfriends hysterical outburst after she asked me if I gotten a picture. All I could think of was the time I was trying to take a picture of me at the top of somewhere. I set the camera up on the timer, which was only a ten second delay, and kept trying to rush to the edge of the cliff and pose before the thing went off. Its the most hysterical set of a blurred foot, part of a leg with a knee, one half expects the last in the series to be feet going over the edge.

The coup de grace' was the very next day after the bear and the back incident, a huge black bear ambled into town. My neighbor called to tell me she heard on the scanner it was two streets away... probably looking for LUNCH. There was an article in the local paper the day after that outlining the locations the bear had been spotted, a suspiciously circuitos route around the house I was living in.

And just in case anyone is wondering, I did check into buying some 'Bear-Bangers,' but when I found out they are heavy duty explosives and one has to apply for a federal fire-arms permit from ATF, I figured I'd probably blow myself up and it would be easier to just get the can of air crowds use at big football games. It was, er, somewhere in my pack.....Entre Noushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00186796216462041421noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7357309411027735889.post-23367692998429999362010-09-18T18:29:32.747-04:002010-09-18T18:29:32.747-04:00Why do I think the bear was highly entertained at ...Why do I think the bear was highly entertained at the spectacle in front of him?Jerryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04278403041887060649noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7357309411027735889.post-87367248050232836422010-09-18T16:25:00.617-04:002010-09-18T16:25:00.617-04:00Did u mark the outside of the boxes as to what the...Did u mark the outside of the boxes as to what the contents were/are?
