Introducing...

HELEN

Helen stays in the kitchen where there is the most light, as she is nearly totally blind.  She is able to discern shadows advancing towards her in the kitchen, but in darker rooms she bumps into things when the kitten in her takes over and she runs.  She has Dead Beat Dad's head, and her mother's soft, silky body, she rolls over and does tricks, and is simply too sweet. She is over six months old and only three pounds.  One of the last two before all the Farm Cats were fixed.
 *Sigh.*

  1. Why the name Helen? Is it because the last name could be Keller? When u mentioned she was bumping into things.....

  7. She is beautiful and I love that you are featuring her here today. Despite her problems she makes do with her afflictions and you can see contentment on her sweet face. You are very kind to look after her with such love.

  9. Yes Pat, It is I, the faint of heart for homeless/sick/injured/anything. Which is why we are also home to a Weaver Finch with one foot. The vet had to amputate her deformed one. I have had her since she was pushed out of the nest at one inch long. Had to feed her a special mix baby bird food (mooshed dog food, calcium etc.) first every five minutes, then ten, until she graduated eight months later to eating bird seed. I tried the mealy worms (which are to GROSS to contemplate) but she hid at the top of her cage and screamed until I had my son pick them out with tweezers. Her objection was obviously she is a civilized bird and would have none of the creepy-crawlies in her cage! Incidently, she has a 'tent' I made out of parachute fabric, as she cannot perch!
